Enthusiasm for the Grumman Widgeon is huge, not least because of its classic styling, amazing history, and incredible versatility. In model form it's an aeroplane that will compliment almost any pilots hangar, both in terms of flight characteristics and versatility, not least for the benefit of being able to take off from either ground, water, or snow.

In practical terms the large open fuselage leaves plenty of room for FPV gear, advanced electronics, or a wide range of batteries, making it a fantastic choice as an FPV platform. Assembly is easy too, indeed the FT Widgeon uses no glue or tape, the whole aircraft being pieced together using magnets and locking pins. What's more, in keeping with FT's vision surrounding its PNP line, all the electronics are accessible for both modification and servicing.

Flying the FT Widgeon will be a rewarding experience for both intermediate and advanced pilots who will find that the twin motors provide great thrust with no torque or pitching issues. Newer pilots will love this for guiding them through their first experience of flying off the water, a process that will be aided by the model's effective water rudder and carefully designed planing hull. Both allow for a smooth transition off water and the ability to easily taxi back to shore. Once airborne the FT Widgeon is gentle, predictable and oh-so pretty to watch.
